蓮花池畔 By The Lotus Pond Set of Three Bronze Leaf Trays

By The Lotus Pond Set of Three Bronze Leaf Trays is the third puzzle piece to the Mystique Garden of my LK metamorphosis brand.  The vow remains - We, the confederates of LK metamorphosism believe in the authenticity of material and its soulful expression.  The lotus plant is one of Nature's greatest design that form follows function in ultimate elegance.  I chose bronze for its weight and agelessness.  The complicated process began with a careful study followed by scale modeling of actual lotus leaves and then cast the miniature sculptures in molten metal. The tray top with intricate vein texture is polished to a brilliant gold like sheen.  The bottom is oxidized to achieve a warm antique bronze finish.

從小喜歡荷花蓮花受兩位男仕影響深刻, ㄧ為大文豪蘇軾: 鳳凰山下雨初晴, 水風清, 晚霞明, ㄧ朵芙蓉開過尚盈盈. 何處飛來雙白鷺, 如有意, 慕娉婷? 二是我的父親, 據說初戀情人名叫陳荷芳, 想來是如香荷般的氣質美女, 但由老爸廣東腔國語唸來: 請歐風, 請歐風… 無ㄧ絲浪漫, 倒是聞者額間多三條線.
荷花與蓮花雖有相似之處, 科屬有別, 無論蓮荷, 瑩白嫩粉淺紫, 水生植物花朵的婀娜比陸叢錦簇還勝幾分. 或許是心頭設計師作祟, 我更欣賞蓮藕蓮子蓮蓬可食可藥可用, 而田田蓮葉, 意像寧靜悠然神秘, 是我靈魂深處那位姆指精靈永憩之所.

To create personal rituals like a 'me time' tea ceremony(Please note that these trays are NOT for direct use with food.  To position them as mini chargers/coasters with a food safe container or present wrapped chocolates in them like a candy dish as shown in my photo is okay.)

To pamper oneself or your guest with aromatic amenities.  I do not recommend using these trays for candles/votives/tea lights due to the pronounced vein texture although the small tray fits a standard votive and the large tray, a standard pillar candle.

To start gardening indoors and indulge in your daily bouquet of potpourri.

我父親最終娶了另外ㄧ位陳小姐, 與荷芳的初戀或許是夏日蓮花池畔的邂逅? 我們總是取笑'請歐風', 卻從來沒試著瞭解爸爸的情懷… 而父親逝世不知不覺已ㄧ年, 我則永遠失落知道答案的機會.

The set includes 3 trays(small, medium, large)packaged in natural shoji paper tied with a twine(as shown in the first photo), and a signed COA double functioning as gift card.  The face paper on the shoji wrap bears two seals: double koi in plum for good fortune and my Chinese emblem in spruce for 'from my heart to your home'.  


A while ago, I stumbled upon a reflective line when reading Before I Go to Sleep by SJ. Watson - "How quickly I would be forgotten, were I to die."  Perhaps this is the exact motivation behind my constant urge to create and to design so many years from now when I am no longer around in this world I love, my dears, you can still meet me by the lotus pond :)

Care Instruction:
- The trays are hand cast bronze with organic texture. Please allow minor irregularities.
- The item is NOT FOOD SAFE.
- The item does not rust or tarnish and can be gently cleaned with non-abrasive soft material like a piece of cotton cloth.
- The two tone finish(polished brass on top, antique bronze on bottom)develops a rich warm patina over years of handling like a unique bronze sculpture.
